To ensure the best air quality and equipment efficiency, your filter should be changed quarterly. Additional good practice is to remove the filter and inspect it monthly and change if necessary.
The average life span is 15 years, but with good care and service this can be much greater. Semi-annual inspections are recommended.

There are lots of different filter sizes and qualities available. They will have a MERV (minimum efficiency reporting value) rating from 1-20. The higher the number, the more dense the filter.
We do not recommend anything higher than MERV 13. Ideally, a MERV 8 filter is better for your equipment's efficiency.
